Day 19

Day 19 ~ It broke! I have been using this since 1996, but it actually dates back to about 1950. It belonged to Lew's Mom and when she died, it was one of the 'things' of hers that I dearly wanted. I had seen her using these tongs so many times. I am sad that they have broken. I can not throw them away. Perhaps I will display them. They are engraved.. "Best wishes to the wives of the carpenters, millrights & piledrivers, AFL, Local 159, Charleston, S.C." Lew's dad was a millright.

I have enjoyed using these tongs for they always made me think of good times with her. I miss her so much. For me, she was one of those few people in our lives who make such a huge impact that your life is drastically changed. She was truly a pivotal person in my life.
